Amanda Johnson
Past District Chair
Amanda Johnson (She/Her) is the Director of Choirs at Agawam High School in Agawam, MA. Previously she served as Music Teacher and Choral Director at Jabish Brook Middle School in Belchertown, MA, and Director of Choirs at Tantasqua Regional High School in Sturbridge, MA where she co-directed the award-winning show choir, Encore!. Amanda holds a Bachelor of Music from The Boston Conservatory and a Master of Music from Kent State University both in Music Education. A soprano chorister and Soloist she is a founding member of the award winning Illumine Chorus in Amherst, MA. She fills her summers with Conducting Fellowships having attended the Atlanta Summer Conducting Institute under the tutelage of Drs. Barrett and Joseph, the Sarteano Chamber Choral Conducting Workshop in Sarteano, Italy under the guidance of Dr. Tony Thornton and Mr. Simon Carrington and the Choral Conducting Symposium at the University of Michigan studying with Dr. Eugene Rogers. An active member of MMEA, Amanda served in various roles on the Western District board including Chairperson, Senior Festival Coordinator, Choral Coordinator, and Ensemble Manager. At the state level, she has served on the 2024 All State Feasibility Committee and is currently a member of the New Ensembles and Audition Practices Committees. Amanda lives in Belchertown, MA with her husband and their two wonderful children.
