​The MMEA Future Music Educators Summit provides a unique platform for students to explore pathways into music education, fostering connections with mentors and experts in the field.​

This opportunity is open to Massachusetts high school students in grades 9-12 interested in the field of music education. The event features collegiate and music educator panels, breakout workshops, time for conversations with college representatives, and a keynote address by Cameron W. Jenkins.

Participating Higher Education Institutions

Any colleges that would like to participate by having a table present and also providing workshops to our participants, please reach out to Jared Cassedy - president@massmea.org 

 

There is a limit of 8 students per high school.  If a school would like to bring more than 8 students, please contact president@massmea.org to see if we can fulfill the request.

Tentative Schedule of the Day:

8:45am-9:00am: Check-In
9:00am-9:15am: Opening Words 
9:15am-10:15am: Collegiate Panel (3 Current Collegiate Music Education Students with Moderator)
10:15am-10:30am:  Break
10:30am-11:20am:  Workshop Breakout Sessions
11:20am-11:50am: Collegiate Table Carousel
(Representatives from colleges & universities)
11:50am-12:30pm: Lunch  
12:30pm-1:10pm: Workshop Breakout Sessions
1:15pm-2:15pm: Keynote
2:15pm-2:30pm: Closing
 

Event Regulations:

  • At least one adult chaperone MUST accompany students from your school.

  •  Music Educators, Music Program Leaders, and Parents/Guardians can serve as chaperones.

  • Chaperones are expected to be present for the entire duration of the event.

  • Students are not allowed to leave the DCU Convention Center without their designated chaperone.

  • Students are unable to drive themselves to this event and must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.

  • Outside food and drinks are not permitted in the DCU Convention Center.

  • Students will be required to wear their MMEA issued name badges at all times during the event.

  • Students participating in the MMEA Future Music Educators Summit are not permitted to purchase, possess, consume, or be under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or illegal substances at any time. Violators will be subject to stringent disciplinary action and sent home at their family’s expense.

  • Smoking is not permitted at any time or in any location during this event.​
