Open Executive Board Positions & Nominating Committee

Dear Members,

MMEA, through its Bylaws Committee, has over the course of two years intentionally redesigned its leadership structure by evolving from a Council model into a Coalition model in order to expand reach across the membership while also increasing ownership and voice in conference planning, professional development, and field-wide opportunities.

Passed at last year’s General Membership Meeting and further defined with job descriptions this year, Coalition Chairs will lead open, inclusive meetings for members across the state while also serving as active members of the Conference Committee and holding voting rights on the Board of Directors. This shift creates greater opportunities for leaders within specific areas to directly shape the All-State Conference, curate high-quality professional learning, and elevate member perspectives. Through subcommittees, collaboration, and consistent engagement, coalitions are designed to ensure that more members have a direct voice in informing the work of the MMEA Board of Directors while strengthening alignment between member needs and organizational action.

Many thanks to Stephanie Riley, Matthew Buono, and the entire Bylaws Committee for their work in elevating membership voice through this new structure. Now we need you to apply to become a two-year Coalition Chair!

Applications are due Monday, April 27th.

Nomination Committee

We will soon be posting for our election of five coalition chairs and need to form a Nominations Committee. The role of the Nominations Committee is to read each of the resumes, responses to application questions and after cross-checking to the job descriptions, recommend the slate of candidates to be put forth to the membership. If you are interested in joining the Nominations Committee, please email back Tony Beatrice at pastpresident@massmea.org. There will be pre-work via google with one meeting on Zoom from 7pm-8:30pm on Thursday, April 30th to decide the slate.

With Appreciation,

Tony Beatrice

Past-President
