New England Conservatory of Music (NEC) was proud to be the Platinum Sponsor of the MMEA All-State Conference and Concerts this March in Worcester.
NEC's commitment to music education is represented in the NEC Preparatory School, which has provided conservatory-level training in a supportive environment for over 75 years. As one of the nation’s largest youth programs, we look forward to welcoming new and returning students to our community this fall.
Fall 2026 Opportunities
Applications are now open for placement-based programs, including:
BSO x NEC Honors Children’s Choir: Tuition-free ensemble for advanced singers ages 8–13
Choirs – Vocal ensembles and training opportunities for students ages 4—18
Massachusetts Youth Wind Ensembles (MYWE): Wind band ensembles for students grades 6—12, led by Michael Mucci, Alfred Dentino, Jared Cassedy, and Allison Lacasse
Orchestras: String and symphony orchestra experiences for students ages 8—18
Early Music Ensembles: Chamber and large ensemble experiences in Baroque and early music traditions for students ages 8—18
Jazz and Contemporary Musical Arts Ensembles: Ensemble experiences in jazz, improvisation, folk and roots traditions, and contemporary music for students ages 8—18

Summer Opportunities
Spaces are still available in NEC’s Summer Programs for high school musicians:
Summer Orchestra Institute (June 28–July 25): full symphony orchestra program; all orchestral musicians welcome, but specifically seeking viola, double bass, and bassoon
Summer Band Institute (August 2–8): focused on the art of wind band performance; all woodwind, brass, and percussion musicians welcome to register, no audition required
