Join the Nomination Committee

Dear MMEA Members, 

The MMEA Nominations Committee is responsible for supporting a fair and thoughtful process for identifying candidates for elected leadership positions and recommending a slate of qualified candidates to the membership.

The committee’s work will take place in three stages. First, the committee will meet once on Zoom to review the elected position descriptions and collectively develop the questions that will be included in the candidate application and shared with the membership.

After applications are received, committee members will be provided with the candidate materials, including resumes and responses to the application questions. Members will independently review this information and cross-reference each candidate’s experience and responses with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined in the appropriate position descriptions.

The committee will then meet a second time on Zoom to discuss the candidates and determine the recommended slate that will be presented to the MMEA membership for election.  The upcoming elections will be for President (Elect), Clerk, Treasurer, Music Program Leaders Chairperson, and Higher Education Representative for two year terms starting in July of 2027.

The Nominations Committee does not elect the individuals who will ultimately serve in these positions. Its role is to develop a strong and consistent application process, carefully review the resulting candidate information, and recommend a qualified slate from which the membership will ultimately vote.

If you are interested in joining, we plan on meeting sometime in October using a when2meet online tool to find the best time for availability.  We will then meet in November to provide the final slate of candidates to the membership.
