Description

The Metropolitan Wind Symphony (MetWinds), an adult, audition-only concert band which is now celebrating its 48th season and which rehearses in Dedham, MA on Wednesday nights, is now accepting applications for the position of Music Director. The deadline for receiving applications is January 31, 2019. Finalists will have the opportunity to audition for the position by conducting the MetWinds for one concert (and the rehearsals leading to that concert) during its fall 2019-summer 2020 season. The candidate who is eventually chosen for the position will begin service in September, 2020. Extensive wind band conducting experience at a high level is a factor to which we give serious consideration. This long-term position encompasses much more than conducting. It requires musicianship, artistic direction, leadership, a view of the future, and an ability to make those dreams a reality. If you are interested in applying, please send a letter of application and resume, including references, and if possible, a list of music conducted in performance during the last five years and representative audio or video recordings of you conducting rehearsals or concerts, preferably of concert bands, either on CDs or DVDs or accessible through internet links or file sharing sites, via email at rap@alum.mit.edu or through the mail to: Metropolitan Wind Symphony c/o Bob Piankian 9 Surrey Road Newton, MA 02458 For more information on the position, please call Bob Piankian at (617) 796-9990 or email him at rap@alum.mit.edu More information on the MetWinds is available on our web page at: http://www.mws-boston.org/
