POSITION: Powers Music School seeks an experienced and motivated vocal pedagogue with exemplary musical and administrative skills to develop and lead its Voice Department. The current department consists of one faculty who teaches a group voice class and one faculty who teaches private lessons. The Voice Department chair position offers the opportunity to implement a compelling philosophy of age-appropriate voice instruction – from early age to adults – in order to develop a strong, comprehensive, and modern voice department. DUTIES: - Teach private lessons. - Teach group classes based on department need - Attend annual faculty meeting & open house - Help coordinate and lead department faculty meetings - Participate in annual faculty evaluation process - Develop and implement curriculum and course offerings - Participate in development of choral program - Explore opportunities for enrollment growth QUALIFICATIONS: - Master’s degree in Vocal Performance or Pedagogy and documented successful teaching experience required. - Prior administrative experience strongly preferred. - Effective communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues. START: Immediately LOCATION: A passionate community committed to playing, learning, and growing together, Powers Music School is located in Belmont, MA. Powers welcomes over 900 students weekly, offering private music lessons in nearly 30 instruments, early childhood and group classes, jazz and rock bands, Suzuki instruction, orchestra, music theory, and composition. The school also offers summer programs for strings, chamber music ensembles, and young children. COMPENSATION: Based on experience and qualifications.
